A blog binge, says the American Journalism Review . "More than 70 percent of the political journalists surveyed by communications firm Brodeur in May said they spent at least an hour per day reading blogs and other online media."
And what blogs are they reading? "As part of a Brodeur study of reporters and social media, 69 political reporters listed their favorite blogs. Their top five:
The Huffington Post
Real Clear Politics
Talking Points Memo
Daily Kos
Townhall.com"
Did you notice something about that list? The only conservative blog listed is Townhall.com- and it's less popular among reporters than Daily Kos. I must keep repeating to my self: There is no liberal bias. There is no liberal bias. There is no liberal bias....

Real Clear Politics is generally considered conservative.
If I were looking for dirt on somebody, I wouldn't bother to look at the blog written by their supporters, would you?

No- but the survey was taken in May; few people were looking for dirt on Gov. Palin in May. So if DK was a favorite back then, that suggests they were looking for manufactured dirt on conservatives generally- which speaks to a liberal bias. And one that cares little for primary sources and fact-checked stories at that.
Ah. My bad.
Well, can't speak for the motivations, but as for fact checking, I can say that quotes CLAIMING that McCain had missed a decisive vote on Energy Independence were all over the place. Actually finding which vote it was took some doing.
My guess is that using the blogs as a starting point, then seeing what you can prove, is the strategy they use.

who, to be honest, doesn't read any of those blogs. Really the only political blog I read is the Agitator.

Sigh. You know what I mean...

Bill Ayers 1995 fundraiser for Obama was first noted in a leftish blog from Hyde Park: Migraines and Musings, kept by Maria Warren.
